MARCH - The Åland Islands.
Professor Carina Wallgren-Pettersson.

The Åland islands - make up part of the enormous archipelago between Finland and Sweden, which is quite unique because of its granite rock made smooth by the ice age. The rock is pleasant to walk on with bare feet, to rest on, to swim from or to find a comfy shelf for a quiet bit of reading. This is where my soul rests.

AUGUST - A Kasbah in the Atlas Mountains.
Professor Michael Clague.

A spectacular, strange, mystical place where kindness and generosity are second nature.

OCTOBER
- Church of Hunawihr in Alsace.
Dr Jocelyn Laporte.

A picture of the church of Hunawihr in Alsace, about 40 kilometres from the laboratory where I am currently working on centronuclear/myotubular myopathies. Taken in autumn just after grape harvest. A place with a typical French countryside feeling.

NOVEMBER - Marmore Waterfall, Umbria, Italy. Professor Antonio Musarò.
The Waterfalls, which are immersed in natural scenery of incomparable beauty, are an artificial work due to the Ancient Romans. It is a very unique experience visiting this fantastic foreshortening of the nature.

JULY - Barafundle Beach in Pembrokeshire, Wales.
Professor Angus Clarke.

It is a place for all seasons and moods. Family fun on hot summer days and contemplative walks by the wild winter sea. It has special memories for me and for those close to me, as we have visited it repeatedly over many years.

The paintings are being exhibited at:

Tidal Wave Gallery, 3 Bridge Street, Hereford ~ 29th-13th October

Mall Gallery, The Mall, London at a Private Viewing on ~ 2nd November

If you are interested in exhibiting these paintings, please contact us at our email address contact@myotubulartrust.com.

Affected families: if you wish to sell cards and calendars through local outlets and shops on a 'sale or return' basis to help raise funds for Myotubular Trust, please contact us!

My lovely daughter Georgina was born 19 years ago with what was later diagnosed as the recessive form of myotubular myopathy. This rare condition with all its challenges have been met by Georgina with fortitude and courage that makes me so proud of her.

With Georgina as my total inspiration, I have used oil as a medium to capture the 'favourite places' of those dedicated professionals who support the progression of knowledge of this rare condition and the objectives of the Myotubular Trust who support the continuation to find a treatment and cure for the condition.
