Joy Machinery's Sponsored Walk pub stop!
Joy Machinery raises £4,096 for equal share between Myotubular Trust and their local hospice. |
When Mark Fairhurst whose grandson, Reece, has myotubular myopathy, went for a Christmas drink with work colleagues he couldn’t have imagined what it would lead to. Mark and some of his colleagues at Joy Mining Machinery Limited arranged not one, but three events to support not only the Myotubular Trust but also their local hospice in Leigh. The first event, a sponsored walk, took place on 24 th April. The second, a charity evening was held shortly after on 8 th May and each week they held a charity draw at work. The committee who organised the event managed to secure some amazing raffle prizes including a signed Manchester United football, a signed Wigan rugby ball and a Wigan Athletic shirt. The evening was enjoyed by all who attended. The two events raised a staggering £3,096 and Joy Mining Machinery Limited very generously donated an additional £1,000 – Wigan and Leigh Hospice and the Myotubular Trust both received an equal share. Our thanks go to Mark Fairhurst , Michelle Winnard, the organising committee and all at Joy Mining Machinery Limited for their hard work, generosity and support.
