Antonia's Wins Over Her Classmates

London to Brighton 2009

Antonia inspires her classmates to nominate Myotubular Trust as their school charity of the year.

Antonia Ruddle and her classmates at St Elizabeth's Catholic Primary School have raised a grand total of £417 for the Myotubular Trust through a cake sale and producing the first ever school newspaper.

Every year at St Elizabeth's the Year 6 class get to vote on a class charity with every child nominating a charity of their choice and writing a speech explaining its work. Each speech is then read out to the class and the class votes for one of the charities. Antonia nominated the Myotubular Trust and it won the election! The class then had to find a way to raise money. They had the idea of organising a cake sale and producing a school newspaper. Everyone in the school who wanted to contribute to the paper could send in their writing. Antonia and her friends then edited the contributions to create a lively newspaper that was a great read and sold out of copies within two days!

Thank you to Antonia and all the pupils and staff at St Elizabeth's Catholic Primary School for all your enthusiasm and help.
