Launching the New Campaign for Schools

Myotubular Trust is delighted to announce its new Schools Campaign. Schools have recently:

  • Chosen our charity to support for an academic year or,
  • Held a one off event in support of us.

And we would love more of you to help us out! It might be that you have heard about us through a personal link, or are new to the charity. We welcome you, and hope that you can use our resources to help raise awareness and funds for children born with myotubular myopathy.

Schools support us when the charity is nominated by a pupil.....

At Louisa and Michael's school, Framwellgate School Durham, pupils are given an opportunity to raise money for a chosen charity over an academic year. Louisa created an emotive powerpoint and there was a unanimous vote to make it their house charity of the year. Read more

Or a pupil asks us to write a letter of introduction to their school....

Jack, a member of the school council at Greenshaw High School asked us to write a letter to his school about the charity, and supported it further by telling them about his friend Tom who was born with myotubular myopathy and sadly died from it. As a result, all students wore whatever they liked for the day in return for a £1 donation, raising £1,079!

Please contact, if you would like us to provide you with a letter.

Schools get to know about our work if a pupil with the condition attends there...

This is exactly what happened at Kingsbridge Community College. The first of a popular four-day event held by Stanborough Chorus every year normally features choral music arranged by Kingsbridge Community College School Choir. This year, the school choir chose to sing to support Myotubular Trust because a fellow pupil, Zak, has the condition myotubular myopathy. Read more

Or sometimes staff nominate us themselves...

Shipborne Primary was introduced to the charity by a member of staff who heard about us from a friend.

And after hearing about the Trust from the teacher, Shipborne Primary school decided to kindly donate their retiring collection from the Year 6 leaver’s assembly to the Myotubular Trust. Read more
