Linda's Story

My lovely daughter Georgina was born nineteen years ago with what was later diagnosed as the recessive form of myotubular myopathy. This rare condition with all its challenges have been met by Georgina with fortitude and courage that makes me so proud of her.

I was trained as a Textile designer at Birmingham, with always a passion for art in all its forms. With Georgina as my total inspiration l have used oIl as a medium to capture the favourite places of those dedicated professionals who support the knowledge progression of this rare condition and the objectives of The Myotubular Trust who support the continuation to find a treatment and cure for this condition.

When Georgina was born, l became a full time carer. Painting and drawing had always been my recreation and with the advantage of living in the beautiful countryside of North Yorkshire, North Cumbria and now in Herefordshire, my passion for landscape was further developed.

I am very proud to see that Georgina also has Art as a passion and is currently in her first year at Hereford College of Arts studying BA (hons) in Contemporary Applied Arts.

The idea of the calendar developed as a method to both appreciate the support of the professionals who assist with this condition but also to raise awareness and funds for the Trust.

Linda Fowler, 2007

' One of the highly motivated mothers, Linda Fowler, an accomplished artist, had the brilliant initiative to produce a really innovative calendar, not of pin-ups or familiar scenery, but of a series of personal paintings she has produced, based on a favourite photograph contributed by a series of invited clinicians and scientists actively involved in myotubular myopathy.

As Founding Patron of the Myotubular Trust, I am filled with admiration for the tremendous drive and initiative of these committed parents and highly commend this calendar to you, not only for its impressive artwork, or for recognising the efforts of the committed clinicians and scientists, but also for supporting a very worthy cause.'
