Family stories from the Myotubular Trust

The Myotubular Trust held their inaugural Finding Strength Auction & Dinner in London on 2nd November. It was a wonderful night, held at the beautiful and newly refurbished Mall Galleries.

Over £100,000 was raised, all of which will go directly into research to find a cure for Myotubular Myopathy and equally importantly a great night was had by all.

The glorious reception music was provided by Andrea de Flammineis and his Royal Opera House colleagues. The night was kindly hosted by Mark Damazer, Controller of BBC Radio 4, and Susanna Reid, the BBC Newsreader. Professor Francesco Muntoni, Myotubular Trust Scientific Advisor and Professor of Paediatric Neurology, Imperial College, London spoke eloquently on the necessity of research funding for rare diseases. The highlight of the night's entertainment was the wonderful voice of Friederike Krum, accompanied by Francoise Ogier on the piano. The auctioneer for the night was the marvelous Freya Mitton of Sothebys who did an amazing job and raised a staggering amount of money.

The auction committee - Lizzie Geffen, Laura Jay, Johanna Martin, Maria Clancy, Andy Wilson Smith, Andrew Lennox, Anne Lennox and Ian Hunter would like to thank each and every one of you who helped make it such a special night.
